DESCRIPTION:Join the Historical Marker dedication and Ribbon Cutting on Wednesday\, July 21\, 2021 at 10:30am at Downtown 6th Street & G Street. \n\n\n\nThis will honor the family and tribal members of the Karuk tribe on the June 14\, 1927 marathon and also those who staged the 1987 Marathon recreation run. \n\n\n\nIn 1927 the Chamber of Commerce in San Francisco conceived of a marketing idea to focus on the newly constructed highway stretch called the "Redwood Highway". This new stretch of mostly dirt road went from San Francisco\, California on Highway 101 to Crescent City\, California and then east on Highway 199 to Grants Pass\, Oregon\, weaving through dense forests of redwood trees.\n\n\n\nJoin the Grants Pass City Mayor\, City Council members\, Grants Pass Chamber and Ambassadors and locals at the finish line 480 miles in Downtown Grants Pass.
